The veteran underwent surgery on his left knee to clean up loose cartilage and was acquired in a blockbuster trade from the San Jose Sharks just minutes prior to the March 8 NHL trade deadline. The 30-year-old has registered 15 goals and 34 points across 48 games this season, all with the Sharks. He is likely to skate on the left wing of Chandler Stephenson on the team's second line on Monday. 1 week agoWashington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin (upper body) will not be available for the team's upcoming two-game road trip and could potentially miss the team's final five regular-season contests. The Swede was injured on a hit from Senators forward Parker Kelly on Sunday and did not practice with the team on Monday. "Possible, but we'll see," Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery said in regards to the possibility of Sandin missing the remainder of the regular season. "Definitely not on the road trip, not traveling." 1 week agoWashington Capitals right winger T.J. Oshie (upper body) could return to the lineup on Tuesday for the team's crucial matchup with the Detroit Red Wings. The veteran has missed the past four games due to an upper-body injury and said he felt good after practicing on Monday. "In my situation we're going to kind of go day to day, but hopeful that I feel good tomorrow morning," Oshie said. The oft-injured winger is having a down offensive season that has included several injuries, as he has tallied 11 goals and 22 points with 83 shots on goal across just 47 games. 2 weeks agoVancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs was the first goaltender off the ice in the team's morning skate on Monday, suggesting he will be the starter for this evening's game against the visiting Vegas Golden Knights. Silovs and Casey DeSmith have been alternating starts of late with Thatcher Demko sidelined but Silovs has been the superior of the two as DeSmith has taken a 6-3 loss in each of his last two outings while Silovs has allowed just three goals while winning each of his last two. He has posted a 1.50 goals-against average and a tidy .930 save percentage in his two NHL games this season after working to a 2.74 GAA and a .907 save percentage in 33 outings with AHL Abbotsford.Source: Thomas Drance
2 weeks agoDetroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso (lower body) has been loaded to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins for a conditioning stint. The 29-year-old has been limited to just 19 games with the Red Wings this season due to lower-body injuries. He suffered an original lower-body injury in a Dec. 18 contest against the Ducks, forcing him out until Feb. 13. However, he left that game against the Oilers after just 8:48 due to an aggravation of the ailment and hasn't appeared in a game since. The veteran pivot hasn't appeared in a game since March 23 due to an undisclosed injury. However, it doesn't appear Lindholm took part in line rushes, meaning he is likely doubtful to return on Monday night, although he has not been ruled out. Lindholm was acquired in a trade with the Calgary Flames a month ahead of the March 8 NHL trade deadline and has just five goals and nine points in 22 games with Vancouver. 2 weeks agoOttawa Senators center Tim Stutzle is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury after missing Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Washington Capitals. The German took a hit from Florida Panthers defenseman Niko Mikkola in a 6-0 loss on Thursday and was slow to get up. Stutzle has notched 18 goals and 70 points in 75 games on the season while adding 192 shots, 100 hits, 28 penalty minutes, and a minus-17 rating on the campaign in his 21:07 of average ice time per game. 2 weeks agoNew Jersey Devils forward Curtis Lazar could miss the remainder of the season due to an upper-body injury. The veteran was injured during the second period of a 4-3 win against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. With the Devils set to miss the postseason, Lazar's 2023-24 campaign could be over altogether. "He's not great," interim head coach Travis Green said on Sunday. "I don't know if we'll see Lazar for the rest of the regular season." 2 weeks agoTampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev (leg) skated with the team in a non-contact jersey at practice on Monday. It was the first time the Russian has skated with his teammates after suffering a gruesome leg injury on Feb. 8 against the New York Rangers. Sergachev's leg got caught underneath him in an awkward fall, leaving him with fractures to his left tibia and fibula that required surgery. He will miss the remainder of the regular season, and his playoff availability is unclear at this time. 2 weeks agoSt. Louis Blues center Robert Thomas had one of his most prolific outings of the season versus Anaheim on Sunday, completing a 6-5 shootout victory with a goal and three assists. Half of the points came in power-play situations, including Thomas' 24th goal of the season. The 24-year-old has also registered 57 assists across 78 appearances to become only the second 80-point scorer for the Blues over the last 20 years. Following a spell of five points in 15 games, Thomas has heated up again ahead of the final few games of the season, upping his points tally in three straight appearances with a goal and six assists.Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoNew York Rangers left wing Artemi Panarin put together his fourth four-point effort of the season in Sunday's 5-2 victory over Montreal. He began his work with a pair of power-play assists, potted the team's fourth goal, and completed his night at the office with an assist on Alexis Lafreniere's empty-netter. Panarin is now only one shy of matching the franchise record for most four-point games in a single season. He also has a chance to tie the Rangers record for most three-assist games in a campaign, with this having been his sixth such effort in 2023-24. 2 weeks agoCarolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen posted his second shutout in three starts on Sunday as the team took down the Blue Jackets 3-0. Andersen stopped 23 pucks in the contest to improve to 12-2-0 for the season. He missed a large chunk of the campaign due to a blood-clotting issue, but Andersen has been outstanding when healthy. He's given up more than two goals only once in his last 13 appearances and boasts a 1.83 goals-against average for the season with three shutouts and a .931 save percentage. Carolina alternates its goalies, meaning we should see Andersen next on Friday in another favorable matchup against St. Louis.Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoWashington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin is expected to miss "some time" after he was injured on Sunday versus Ottawa. The Swedish blue-liner suffered an upper-body injury on a hard hit from Senators forward Parker Kelly. Sandin was limited to 7:09 of ice time on Sunday. The 24-year-old went scoreless for a seventh consecutive game, but he's done a decent job helping out on offense in general, with 23 points (three goals, 20 assists) amassed across 68 games. 2 weeks agoNew Jersey Devils goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen sustained a lower-body injury in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to Nashville. He gave up an early goal to Jack Hughes and left the game after logging only 8:39 of ice time. Jake Allen stopped 29 of 30 pucks as his replacement. Kahkonen is set to undergo additional evaluations on Monday, which will determine his availability for Tuesday's contest against Toronto. Colorado also played without Miles Wood (lower body) on Sunday. Zach Parise stepped up to fill a top-six role. The veteran, who's posted nine points (four goals, five assists) in 26 games for the Avalanche, will have extra fantasy value until Rantanen's return.
