Marcus Semien Placed on Injured List
Marcus Semien (foot) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday, retroactive to Aug. 22. Semien has been absent from the lineup since fouling a ball off his foot during Thursday's contest. The veteran slugger is scheduled to meet with a foot doctor on Sunday, but the Rangers decided to place him on the shelf anyway. The expectation is that the Rangers are going to use a committee approach at second base while he's out. Ezequiel Duran will probably see the biggest boost, but Josh Smith could also see starts there. Duran could be worth a look in deep leagues given how well he has been hitting in August.Source: Jeff Wilson
Texas Rangers second baseman Jackson Merrill Heads to 10-Day Injured List
Jackson Merrill (ankle) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. This doesn't come as a surprise after Merrill was held out again on Saturday to mark his sixth absence in a row. The Padres have decided to place him on the shelf, retroactive August 20. The Padres are hopeful that Merrill will be ready to go by September. The absence of Merrill means Ramon Laureano should play everyday center field. Laureano has hit well enough to warrant rostering in 12-team formats if you need another bat.Source: San Diego Padres
San Diego Padres outfielder Luis Torrens Missing Third Straight Game
Luis Torrens (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves. This marks the third game in a row that Torrens has sat out due to hand soreness. The good news is, Torrens is reportedly available off the bench to pinch-hit during this contest. That means, Torrens should be able to return to the lineup within the next few days. In the meantime, Hayden Senger will be behind the plate and bat ninth versus right-hander Cal Quantrill. There should be another update available on Torrens ahead of Sunday's contest.Source: mlb.com
New York Mets catcher Brandon Nimmo Sitting Out Again
Brandon Nimmo (neck) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Nimmo is set to miss his third game in a row due to neck stiffness. It's worth noting that Nimmo was able to get through pregame warmups before ultimately being held out of Saturday's lineup. That being said, Nimmo should be able to return to the starting lineup at some point in the next few days. In the meantime, Starling Marte will cover left field and bat sixth versus right-hander Cal Quantrill. Fantasy managers should check back ahead of Sunday's lineup to see if Nimmo is able to return.Source: mlb.com
New York Mets outfielder Dominic Canzone Continues to Sit Out
Dominic Canzone (arm) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Athletics. Canzone has been sidelined since being hit by a pitch during Monday's contest. Luckily, the X-rays came back negative, so Canzone isn't dealing with anything serious. For now, Canzone is considered day-to-day, but he could end up on the injured list. Regardless, Canzone is likely going to have a tough time finding playing time with Victor Robles back in the mix. Robles will bat seventh and play right field versus left-hander Jeffrey Springs on Saturday.Source: mlb.com
Seattle Mariners outfielder Mike Tauchman Resting With Lower-Half Soreness
Mike Tauchman (lower body) is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins. According to manager Will Venable, Tauchman is out due to lower body soreness. Tauchman has played in seven straight games, so he could use a day off to rest. This doesn't sound like anything serious, so fantasy managers should consider Tauchman as day-to-day. Michael A. Taylor will cover right field and bat ninth against right-hander Mick Abel on Saturday. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update on Tauchman.Source: mlb.com
Chicago White Sox outfielder Jackson Merrill Missing Sixth Straight Game
Jackson Merrill (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This marks the sixth game in a row that Merrill has missed due to a bruised left ankle. For now, Merrill is considered day-to-day, but it's a bit surprising he hasn't been placed on the injured list at this point. The Padres are likely going to need to make a move if Merrill isn't available within the next few games. In the meantime, Ramon Laureano will cover center field and bat seventh versus right-hander Tyler Glasnow on Saturday.Source: mlb.com
San Diego Padres outfielder Brice Turang Absent on Saturday, "Touch-and-Go" With Wrist Injury
Brice Turang (wrist) is being held out of Saturday's starting lineup against the San Francisco Giants. Turang is touch-and-go with a wrist issue after being hit by a pitch during Friday's contest. It sounds like Turang did work out pregame, but they ultimately decided to rest him on Saturday. The X-rays came back negative, so fantasy managers should consider Turang as day-to-day. Caleb Durbin will take over at second base while Anthony Seigler plays third base during Saturday's game. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update on Turang.Source: Adam McCalvy
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Warming Bernabel Returning on Saturday
Warming Bernabel (head) is back in the starting nine ahead of Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bernabel was pulled from Thursday's lineup after getting hit in the face with a throw during infield drills. He was absent from Friday's lineup but is back in the mix on Saturday. Bernabel will cover first base and bat second versus right-hander Mike Burrows. The 23-year-old prospect is hitting .304/.342/.565 with three home runs and eight RBI against right-handed pitching since being called up. He's worth a look as a streaming option in deep leagues.Source: mlb.com

Bennett Sousa to be Shut Down for At Least Two Weeks
Bennett Sousa (elbow) landed on the 15-day injured list on Friday (retroactive to Aug. 20) with left-elbow inflammation. The 30-year-old will miss more time than that, though, as the Astros announced he's dealing with a low-grade flexor/pronator strain and will go at least two weeks without throwing. The Astros plan to re-evaluate Sousa in early September. One of the Astros' most effective relievers this season, Sousa has gone 5-1 with a 2.84 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, 59:15 K:BB, seven holds, and four saves in 50 2/3 innings. With Sousa and closer Josh Hader (shoulder) on the shelf, Houston's bullpen has taken a couple of significant late-season hits as the team pushes for an AL West title.Source: Matt Kawahara - Houston Chronicle
Houston Astros reliever Shawn Dubin Designated for Assignment
Shawn Dubin for assignment and recalled righty AJ Blubaugh from Triple-A Sugar Land, per a team announcement. The Astros are cutting Dubin from their 40-man roster amid a horrific August in which he has surrendered 13 earned runs on 14 hits, including four homers, with three strikeouts and one walk in 5 1/3 innings. The 29-year-old missed time earlier this season with multiple injuries and has recorded a 5.61 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP, 21:8 K:BB, and six holds over 25 2/3 frames.Source: Houston Astros

Matt Chapman Activated and Starting on Saturday
Matt Chapman (hand) from the 10-day injured list and optioned second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald to Triple-A Sacramento, according to Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle. After missing the minimum of 10 days with right-hand inflammation, Chapman is back at the hot corner on Saturday and hitting sixth against Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. Chapman, who has been on the IL twice this season with hand injuries, has hit .229/.337/.423 with 16 homers, 44 RBI, 53 runs scored, and seven stolen bases in 403 plate appearances.Source: Shayna Rubin - The San Francisco Chronicle
The San Francisco Giants have activated third baseman Marcus Semien Out Saturday, Will Visit Doctor on Sunday
Marcus Semien (foot) will not play Saturday against the Cleveland Guardians, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports. Semien, who also missed Friday's game, has a left-foot contusion and is in a walking boot. The 34-year-old has been in pain since he fouled a ball off his foot in a loss to the Kansas City Royals on Thursday and will undergo a fourth round of testing with a doctor on Sunday, according to McFarland. A stint on the 10-day injured list looks like a possibility for Semien, who has hit .230/.305/.364 with 15 homers, 62 RBI, 62 runs, and 11 steals in 534 plate appearances this year. The Rangers haven't released a lineup for Saturday yet, but they started Ezequiel Duran in Semien's absence on Friday.Source: Shawn McFarland - Dallas Morning News
