Athletics second baseman
Zack Gelof (ribs, wrist) was pulled from his minor-league rehab assignment du to a stress reaction in his ribs and has been shut down from swinging for the time being, according to MLB.com's Martin Gallegos. Gelof was forced to start the 2025 season on the injured list after having surgery on his right wrist, but he had started a rehab assignment in the minors last week. The 25-year-old went 1-for-7 with an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and two strikeouts in just three rehab games with Triple-A Las Vegas before suffering a new injury. Stress reactions can be quite serious, so there's no telling how long he'll be shut down from swinging a bat, or when he'll be able to return to his rehab assignment. Depending on how long Gelof is away from Vegas, he might not be able to make his season debut for the A's until June.

Seattle Mariners right-hander
George Kirby (shoulder) made his first minor-league rehab start on Sunday for Triple-A Tacoma and allowed just one earned run on a solo homer while walking none and striking out four in three innings of work. It was the first time that Kirby had taken the mound since Feb. 26 in spring training due to a right-shoulder injury. The 27-year-old was able to throw 33 of his 42 pitches for strikes while topping out at 97.8 mph. Barring a setback with his shoulder injury, the Mariners are expecting Kirby to need only two or three rehab starts before he comes off the 15-day injured list for his 2025 season debut. The former 20th overall pick in 2019 out of Elon University was a first-time All-Star in 2023 and hasn't posted an ERA over 3.53 in any of his three MLB seasons. Kirby has impeccable control but a below-average 23.3% strikeout rate. Still, he needs to be rostered in all fantasy leagues.

Randy Arozarena (hamstring) is absent from the starting lineup for Monday's series opener in Sacramento against the division-rival Athletics.
Miles Mastrobuoni is starting in left field and will hit sixth, while
Rhylan Thomas is manning right field and batting out of the nine-hole against A's right-hander
Luis Severino. A hamstring forced Arozarena from Sunday's game early against the Texas Rangers, so fantasy managers shouldn't be all that surprised that he's out on Monday. The good news is that the 30-year-old veteran is expected to be back for the second game of the series on Tuesday. Arozarena is hitting just .224 (26-for-116) on the year with five homers, 18 RBI, eight steals and 16 runs scored, but he's gone 10-for-33 (.303) with a homer, RBI and two steals in nine games since April 23 and is on a modest four-game hitting streak.

The New York Mets are recalling infielder
Brett Baty from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday before their series opener in the desert against the hosting Arizona Diamondbacks. The Mets optioned Baty to Syracuse on April 24, but only because of a roster crunch upon
Jeff McNeil's return from the injured list. The 25-year-old had been dealing with a sore right toe in recent days, but it wasn't severe enough to prevent his call-up. Baty had three hits in his 10 at-bats with Syracuse and will return to a .204/.246/.352 slash line in the big leagues with a homer, four RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base. The former top prospect just hasn't been able to put it all together at the big-league level since debuting in 2022, and he'll serve as infield depth at both second and third base behind McNeill and
Mark Vientos. Baty can be ignored in most mixed fantasy leagues.

Willson Contreras stepped on his glove hand. The 24-year-old was checked by a trainer and remained in the contest before eventually being removed in the ninth inning for a defensive replacement. Gorman is back at second base and is hitting sixth in Monday's series opener against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander
Carmen Mlodzinski after he sat out of Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader. The former first-rounder (19th overall) in 2018 has been a non-factor for fantasy managers so far in 2025, as he's hitting just .167 (10-for-60) with a homer, nine RBI, nine runs scored and 21 strikeouts in 20 games played.

Declan Cronin (hip) has been progressing well in his rehab assignment. According to Kevin Barral of Fish on First, the right-hander is set to throw a pitch design on Tuesday. Cronin has been sidelined on the 15-day injured list since March. Cronin has made three rehab appearances with Triple-A Jacksonville. In each appearance, Cronin logged just one inning of work. Across three total frames, the 27-year-old has allowed two runs (one earned) and has struck out four batters. Last season, the Holy Cross product logged a career-high 70 1/3 innings and held a 4.35 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP. He was deployed exclusively out of the bullpen. When he is cleared to return, fantasy managers should expect Cronin to operate in a middle relief role.

The Athletic's Katie Woo reports that the St. Louis Cardinals are calling up right-handed pitching prospect
Gordon Graceffo, and he will operate out of the bullpen. Graceffo is back with the major-league club after allowing just one earned run while walking none and striking out five in five innings for his first big-league win in an outstanding spot start last Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds. The 25-year-old former fifth-rounder in 2021 out of Villanova is the team's No. 16 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Graceffo hasn't been quite as good on the farm in four starts (17 1/3 innings) for Triple-A Memphis, though, as he's sporting a 5.71 ERA ad 1.09 WHIP with 16 strikeouts and five walks. For the time being, Graceffo will pitch in a long-relief role out of St. Louis' bullpen, which won't give him any real fantasy appeal in redraft leagues.

Ryan Weathers (forearm) is set to throw a pitch design on Tuesday. Weathers has been sidelined since March due to a forearm strain. He was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 27. However, he quickly began a throwing progression and was able to make his first minor-league rehab start on April 28. In his first rehab outing with Low-A Jupiter, Weathers was sharp and tossed three no-hit innings. He struck out six batters. However, in his second outing, he was moved up to Triple-A but took a step back and allowed two runs across 2 2/3 innings of work. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status, as he could be cleared to make his 2025 season debut sometime next week. When he does get cleared to return, he would be worth adding in all standard formats after posting a 3.63 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP across 86 2/3 innings last summer.

Miami Marlins starting pitcher
Eury Perez (elbow) is set to make another rehab outing with Low-A Jupiter on Tuesday. Perez is currently on the 60-day injured list and working his way back from Tommy John surgery. The team noted that the budding ace is scheduled to make at least eight rehab outings before being in contention to return to the big leagues. So far, the former top prospect has made two rehab outings with Low-A. Across two 2/3 innings of work, Perez has allowed just one hit and held a 4:1 K:BB. He has not allowed a run. The 22-year-old made his MLB debut during the 2023 campaign and flashed high upside as he held a 3.15 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. He struck out 108 batters and generated an elite .208 xBA. He is worth monitoring as he could be a must-start option in the second half of the campaign.

Shota Imanaga's (hamstring) place in the big-league starting rotation after the team placed Imanaga on the 15-day injured list on Monday. In addition to Horton, veteran right-hander
Chris Flexen is stretched out in a long-relief role and is another option, although he isn't nearly as intriguing for fantasy purposes. Horton was the former seventh overall pick in 2022 out of Oklahoma and is considered the club's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. While Flexen might have the upper hand to make a start this weekend against the New York Mets because he's on the 40-man roster, Horton represents the much better speculative waiver-wire pickup. The 23-year-old has posted a strong 1.24 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 33:13 K:BB in 29 innings for Triple-A Iowa to begin the 2025 season.

Washington Nationals manager Dave Martinez said on Monday that left-hander
MacKenzie Gore (ankle) is dealing with a sore ankle, but he's feeling a lot better. Gore slipped on a wet mound during his outing on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds in the fifth inning, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury and should be able to make his next scheduled start this Sunday versus the St. Louis Cardinals. The 26-year-old southpaw and former third overall pick by the San Diego Padres in 2017 picked up a no-decision on Sunday against the Reds by allowing one earned run on four hits while walking four and striking out nine in five innings of work. Gore has looked good in his third year with the Nats and has posted a career-best 3.33 ERA (2.72 FIP) and 1.15 WHIP with a league-high 68 K's and 13 walks in eight starts over 46 innings. Start Gore on Sunday if he's cleared.

Derek Hill (wrist) is going through full baseball activities. Hill has been sidelined since April with a left wrist sprain. Hill was officially shifted to the 10-day injured list on April 18. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring his progression, but it appears Hill is nearing a rehab assignment. Given the time he missed, Hill may only need a brief assignment before returning to Miami. Before his injury, Hill held a .167/.239/.286 slash line with one home run and three stolen bases. Under the hood, Hill generated a modest .224 xBA and a .289 xwOBA but placed in the 97th percentile in sprint speed. When he does return, he should compete for an everyday role in center field alongside

Jesus Sanchez.
