Harry Higgs Has Potential at John Deere Classic
Source: PGATour.com
Harry Higgs bounced back last week at the Rocket Classic in Detroit. The American golfer fired a final round 65 to get into the Top 25. Granted, this was not a star-studded field but this week is not exactly either. Higgs delivered a gem in Myrtle Beach in May where he lost in a playoff. This was surrounded by a series of missed cuts and some skittish golf. Higgs' biggest weakness may be two-fold. One is greens in regulation (63.22% - 144th) but the other is that overall scoring average of 71.06 (151st). Add in that he is 160th on Par 4's (4.09) and this might be a recipe for disaster at TPC Deere Run. Nick Dunlap Keeps Plugging Through Tough 2025 Season
Source: PGATour.com
Nick Dunlap is not playing well right now. The American golfer is missing putts and making mistakes he normally would not. Dunlap missed another cut at the Rocket Classic. He started out well with a 70 but then the hiccups started during Round 2. Several missed shots and putts lead to a 75 and another weekend without golf. That makes eight in the last 12 appearances for the young Dunlap. Worse, he did not play on Saturday in the 2024 John Deere Classic. It is a course where birdies are often more plentiful. With how erratic off the tee Dunlap is right now (171st at 1.567 strokes lost), the wisest option may be to avoid him in betting and DFS formats.Dan Vladar Links Up With Flyers on Two-Year Deal
Source: NHL.com
The Philadelphia Flyers have signed free-agent goaltender Dan Vladar to a two-year, $6.7 million contract. With Dustin Wolf firmly establishing himself as the No. 1 option in Calgary, Vladar decided to move on and will now compete with Samuel Ersson for playing time in the City of Brotherly Love. In 2024-25, Vladar posted a 12-11-6 record while allowing 2.80 goals with a .898 save percentage. Ersson went 22-17-5 with a 3.14 goals-against average and a .883 save percentage. The Flyers also have Ivan Fedotov on the books for next season.Andrew Mangiapane Signs Two-Year Pact With Oilers
Source: NHL.com
Winger Andrew Mangiapane has signed a two-year, $7.2 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers. The 29-year-old will return to Alberta, having previously represented the Calgary Flames for seven seasons. The Flames traded Mangiapane to the Washington Capitals for a second-round draft pick a year ago. Things did not go well for Mangiapane in D.C, as he finished the 2024-25 season with 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 81 games, his lowest scoring total in four years. The 2021 World Championships MVP could be an intriguing bounce-back candidate in fantasy hockey next season if he can land on a line with Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl.Ryan Lindgren Joins Kraken on Four-Year Contract
Source: NHL.com
Defenseman Ryan Lindgren has inked a four-year, $18 million contract with the Seattle Kraken. He was available as a free agent after splitting the 2024-25 season between the New York Rangers and Colorado Avalanche. In 72 games, Lindgren set a career high with 22 points (four goals, 18 assists), while also tallying 128 blocks and 80 hits. Lindgren has made a name for himself as a defensive defenseman and offers limited value to fantasy managers.Christian Dvorak Heads to Philadelphia
Source: ESPN
Center Christian Dvorak signed a one-year, $5.4 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. He hit the open market after completing a six-year, $26.7 million deal he signed with the Arizona Coyotes in 2018. Just a couple of years into the contract, Dvorak was traded to the Montreal Canadiens, where he registered 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) in 82 games during the 2024-25 season. Nine years into his NHL career, Dvorak has never managed more than 38 points in a season, so his deal with the Flyers is sure to raise some eyebrows.Logan Stankoven Signs Long-Term Extension with Hurricanes
Source: NHL.com
Carolina Hurricanes forward Logan Stankoven signed an eight-year, $48 million contract extension with the franchise on Tuesday. The deal will take effect with the 2026-27 NHL season. Carolina acquired Stankoven from the Dallas Stars in the Mikko Rantanen trade in March, and the long-term extension is a strong signal that the team sees him playing a vital role in Raleigh for the foreseeable future. In 2024-25, Stankoven registered nine points (five goals, four assists) in 19 appearances with the Hurricanes, adding eight points (five goals, three assists) in 15 playoff outings.Jonathan Drouin Joins Islanders on Two-Year Contract
Source: Sportsnet
Forward Jonathan Drouin will head back to the Eastern Conference for the 2025-26 NHL season, having agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract with the New York Islanders. The former top-three draft pick has spent the past two campaigns with the Colorado Avalanche. Injuries limited Drouin to 43 appearances in 2024-25, but he had a good spell in Denver. Across 122 games with the Avalanche, Drouin posted 30 goals and 93 points. He might maintain that level of productivity on Long Island if he secures a top-six role and gets a spot on the first power-play unit.Devils Hand Connor Brown a Four-Year Contract
Source: Sportsnet
Right wing Connor Brown will take his talents to New Jersey in 2025-26, having landed a four-year, $12 million contract from the Devils. The 31-year-old revived his NHL career with the Edmonton Oilers, tallying 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in 82 games during the 2024-25 season. He added five goals and four assists in 20 postseason appearances. Brown has been a 30-40-point guy for most of his career and will likely hover around the same range next season if he stays clear of injuries.John Klingberg Lands in San Jose
Source: NHL.com
The San Jose Sharks have picked up defenseman John Klingberg in free agency, signing him to a one-year, $4 million contract. Klingberg has battled health issues in recent years and skated in only 11 regular-season games with the Edmonton Oilers in 2024-25. He made 19 further appearances during the playoffs. In total, Klingberg managed two goals and eight points in Edmonton. The defenseman secured a good deal in San Jose, but his fantasy value will likely stay limited next season.William Eklund Signs Three-Year Extension with Sharks
Source: NHL.com
San Jose Sharks left wing William Eklund has secured a three-year contract extension. He was handed a $16.8 million deal that will begin with the 2026-27 season. The Swedish forward has just finished his second season in the NHL, recording 58 points (17 goals, 41 assists) in 77 games. He's only 22 years old and has plenty of untapped potential. Fantasy managers should keep Eklund on their radar, as he is likely to continue playing a key role for a rebuilding Sharks team. Will Cuylle Agrees to Two-Year Contract with Rangers
Source: Sportsnet
New York Rangers left wing Will Cuylle has re-signed with the team for two years, landing a $7.8 million contract. The 23-year-old was a restricted free agent. Cuylle had a strong finish to 2024-25 and will be a player to watch next season. He played in all 82 games this past campaign and achieved career-high marks in all offensive categories, posting 45 points (20 goals, 25 assists). Additionally, Cuylle was tied for the third-most hits in the league with 301, making him even more attractive from a fantasy perspective.Vladislav Gavrikov Inks Seven-Year Deal with Rangers
Source: NHL.com
The New York Rangers have signed defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov to a seven-year, $49 million contract. He was an unrestricted free agent after completing a two-year, $11.75 million pact with the Los Angeles Kings. Gavrikov led the Kings with 140 blocks in 2024-25 and notched 30 points (five goals, 25 assists) in 82 appearances. The Russian blue-liner plays a steady game and is expected to link up with the Rangers' star defenseman Adam Fox on the top defensive pairing next season. However, his playing style is not especially well suited for fantasy hockey.Tanner Jeannot Moves to Boston
Source: NHL.com
Winger Tanner Jeannot has signed a five-year, $17 million contract with the Boston Bruins as a free agent. Jeannot spent the 2024-25 campaign with the Los Angeles Kings, registering 13 points (seven goals, six assists) with 211 hits. Recent seasons have not been kind to Jeannot offensively, but the Bruins hope to see him return to top form in Beantown. "Obviously, he popped a few years ago. He's had some injuries since then that have probably derailed a little bit in that regard. I don't know if he's getting back to scoring 27 goals, I sure hope so. Deep down, he believes he'll bring a lot more energy to our group that we need, the physicality is there," Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said.Corey Perry Joins Kings on One-Year Deal
Source: NHL.com
Winger Corey Perry will continue his NHL career as a member of the Los Angeles Kings. The 40-year-old veteran inked a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Kings on Tuesday. Perry is coming off a 30-point campaign with the Edmonton Oilers, having helped the team reach a second consecutive Stanley Cup Finals. Overall, Perry has been part of five of the past six Finals series, becoming a talisman for teams that pick him up. His 10-goal output during Edmonton's run to the Finals is proof that Perry still has some gas left in the tank, but he likely won't play a major role with the Kings during the regular season in 2025-26.Hurricanes Pick Up K'Andre Miller
Source: ESPN
The Carolina Hurricanes acquired defenseman K'Andre Miller from the New York Rangers on Tuesday. The team sent a 2026 first-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and defenseman Scott Morrow to the Rangers. Miller, a restricted free agent, signed an eight-year, $60 million contract as part of the deal. Although Miller has been mediocre offensively in recent seasons, he is expected to improve the already strong Hurricanes blue line. In 2024-25, Miller recorded 27 points (seven goals, 20 assists), 110 shots, 110 blocks, and 107 hits in 74 games.Drew Romo Tallies Three Doubles and Two RBI on Tuesday
Drew Romo went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-7 win against Triple-A El Paso. It was quite the day for Romo, as he recorded his most total bases and RBI in a game this season. It's been an underwhelming year overall, as he is slashing .247/.312/.412 with just two homers in 110 plate appearances in his second stint at Triple-A. The underlying metrics also aren't very encouraging, as he is chasing outside the strike zone more than 40 percent of the time, to go with just a 25 percent hard-hit rate. The 23-year-old made his MLB debut on August 17, 2024, and became the third-youngest catcher to debut in Rockies history. It's been a struggle since then, and he likely won't be on many fantasy radars this season.Source: MiLB.com
Colorado Rockies catcher prospect Zac Gallen Fans 10 in Tuesday's Win
Zac Gallen turned in one of his best starts of the season in Tuesday's 8-2 victory over the Giants. Gallen pitched seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits (including a solo home run) and no walks with 10 strikeouts. The 29-year-old now has a 13-strikeout effort and a 10-strikeout performance this season. Unfortunately, strikeouts have been hard to come by for him overall, and he has had a very disappointing season. Gallen is now 6-9 with a 5.45 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, an 8.48 K/9 rate, and a 3.63 BB/9 rate in 18 starts and 104 IP. His next start will be a favorable one against an underperforming Royals lineup. However, Gallen has allowed at least four runs in eight of his last 10 starts, so fantasy managers may consider starting him in points leagues only until he can truly get things back on track.Source: MLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Randy Arozarena Homers For Second Consecutive Game Tuesday
Randy Arozarena continued his mini power surge in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Royals. Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a single, a solo home run, and a strikeout. The 30-year-old got the M's on the board in the second inning, lining a Michael Lorenzen fastball over the left-center wall. Arozarena now has three HR in his last two games and 11 long balls on the season. These have come with a respectable .248/.360/.427 slash line, 38 RBI, and 15 stolen bases in 364 plate appearances. He has been producing at a higher level lately, batting .294 with three HR and six stolen bases in June.Source: MLB.com
Seattle Mariners outfielder Chase Petty Effective Across Five Innings on Tuesday
Chase Petty allowed two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one over five innings as he picked up the win against Triple-A Indianapolis. Petty was not overpowering in this outing, with only three whiffs on 25 swings. The velocity on his pitches was slightly down across the board as well. The 22-year-old is coming off a strong month of June, recording a 2.29 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 18:7 K:BB in 19.2 innings. The right-hander has gotten a taste of the big leagues this year, but got blasted for nine runs in his MLB debut. He would make for a deep league or NL-only add if he were to return to the majors.Source: MiLB.com
Cincinnati Reds pitching prospect Carlos Estevez Earns Save No. 23 On Tuesday
Carlos Estevez continued his solid season in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Mariners, picking up his 23rd save of the season. Estevez came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by three and shut things down with a 1-2-3 inning. The 32-year-old hasn't posted the gaudiest numbers, but he has been consistent, converting all but three of his save opportunities with a 2.02 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, a 7.57 K/9 rate, and a 3.53 BB/9 rate in 35 2/3 innings of work. Again, Estevez may not provide the strikeout numbers of some other high-end closers, but he is now tied for second in saves in baseball. He should continue to offer a high fantasy floor despite the Royals' lackluster performance overall.Source: MLB.com
Kansas City Royals closer Mason Miller Earns Second Consecutive Save Tuesday
Mason Miller escaped with his 17th save of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Rays. Miller came in to pitch the bottom of the 10th inning with no outs and an automatic runner on second. He got the first two outs on a strikeout and a fly-out. He then intentionally walked a batter and allowed both runners to advance on a balk, but shut the door with a strikeout. The 26-year-old has struggled with walks this season and has had some blowup outings. However, he has converted 17 of 20 save opportunities with plenty of strikeouts. Miller now owns a 4.55 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP, a 14.78 K/9 rate, and a 4.55 BB/9 rate in 31 2/3 innings of work. The good news is that he has been trending in the right direction, allowing runs in just one of his last six outings.Source: MLB.com
Athletics closer Noelvi Marte Hits Grand Slam in Rehab Game
Noelvi Marte (oblique) went 2-for-3 with a grand slam, an additional RBI, and two walks in a rehab game on Tuesday. Marte looks to be recovered from his oblique strain as he clobbered a grand slam in his first rehab game. The 23-year-old was off to a strong start with the Reds before the injury. He was hitting .294/.342/.515 with three homers and four stolen bases in 73 plate appearances. He flashed his elite raw power with a 116.7 mph home run and also owns the best strikeout rate of his young career at 16.4 percent. Marte still has incredible upside with his blend of power, speed, and contact. Although the Reds' infield still seems a tad crowded, he is worth adding in at least deep-mixed leagues for corner-infield depth as he nears his return to the big leagues.Source: MiLB.com
Cincinnati Reds third baseman Daniel Palencia Notches Ninth Save Of Season Tuesday
Daniel Palencia picked up his ninth save of the season in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Guardians. Palencia came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by three and shut the door with a 1-2-3 performance, including two strikeouts. The 25-year-old has served as the team's primary closer for the last month and has converted all but one of his save opportunities this season with a 1.80 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, and a 10.50 K/9 rate in 30 innings of work. Veteran Ryan Pressly has seen some save opportunities as well, but he has taken a back seat to Palencia, who is rostered in just 45 percent of leagues. The Cubs' strong performance this season and Palencia's increasing responsibilities make him worth a roster spot in at least all roto leagues at this time.Source: MLB.com
Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Hunter Goodman Hits Two More Homers Tuesday
Hunter Goodman continued his strong offensive season in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Astros. Making his return to action after missing four games with a left-hamstring injury, Goodman went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs and a walk. The 25-year-old got things going early, blasting a first-inning Colton Gordon fastball to straightaway center field. He kept things interesting in the ninth inning, depositing a Josh Hader fastball into the left-center seats to bring the Rockies within one. Goodman has been a bright spot for the Rockies and fantasy managers this season, slashing .290/.337/.532 with 16 HR and 50 RBI in 315 plate appearances. His catcher eligibility gives him an extra boost in fantasy value.Source: MLB.com
Colorado Rockies catcher Michael McGreevy Throws Six Shutout Innings on Tuesday
Michael McGreevy allowed only two hits while striking out five in six scoreless innings as he picked up the win on Tuesday against Triple-A Nashville. McGreevy picked up his eighth win of the season which is tied for the most among pitchers in Triple-A. The 24-year-old was in total control in this outing, throwing 55 of 81 pitches for strikes while also generating 12 whiffs on 41 swings. The right-hander has been dominant all season at Triple-A with a 2.28 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 69:12 K:BB in 67 innings. He has made a handful of starts at the major league level and has been respectable, owning a 3.37 FIP over 21.1 innings. There isn't a clear spot for him in the rotation as of now, but that can always change. He would be a solid deep league or NL-only add when he returns to the majors.Source: MiLB.com
St. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Jacob deGrom Records Ninth Win
Jacob deGrom won his fifth consecutive decision on Tuesday night in his team's 10-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, bringing his season-long win total to nine. deGrom threw six innings and allowed two earned runs with five hits (one homer allowed), one walk, and six strikeouts. The veteran right-hander has not allowed more than two earned runs in a start since April 11 and is now sporting a 2.13 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 101 1/3 innings pitched (17 starts). He entered the day with a 25.9% strikeout rate and 20.4% K-BB%, both below career norms but still stellar marks. He remains an elite starting pitcher option in fantasy as long as he's healthy.Source: MLB
Texas Rangers starter Josh Hader Stays Perfect In Save Conversion On Tuesday
Josh Hader picked up his 24th save of the season in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Rockies. Hader came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by two. He got the first out on a fly-out, allowed a solo home run and a single, and ended the game on back-to-back strikeouts. The 31-year-old has converted all of his save opportunities this season and now leads baseball in saves. He has put up strong numbers even by his standards, compiling five wins with a 1.86 ERA, a 0.72 WHIP, a 13.73 K/9 rate, and a career-low 1.63 BB/9 rate in 38 2/3 innings of work.Source: MLB.com
It wasn't his cleanest outing, but Houston Astros closer Matthew Boyd Shines in Eighth Victory
Matthew Boyd picked up his eighth win of the season in his team's 5-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. Boyd went seven innings, allowing five hits, one walk, and two earned runs with five strikeouts. The veteran lefty has emerged as an integral piece of the division-leading Cubs' rotation. He's posted a 2.65 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 87 strikeouts in 98 2/3 innings pitched. There are some signs of regression in his profile, as Boyd has stranded an unusually high 80.4% of baserunners, and his 8.4% home run-to-fly-ball rate is well below his career norms. Even if Boyd pitches closer to his 3.44 xERA the rest of the way, he'll still be a useful fantasy starter with solid win potential every time he takes the mound for the Cubs.Source: MLB
Chicago Cubs starter Taurean Prince Staying in Milwaukee
Taurean Prince has agreed to a two-year, $7.1 million contract to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks. In 2024-25, Prince started 73 of his 80 regular-season outings during his first year in Milwaukee. He also averaged 8.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.0 steals in 27.1 minutes per contest, while shooting a career-best 43.9 percent from three-point range. The 31-year-old could remain in the Bucks starting five, but he will likely struggle to stay a fantasy-relevant asset during the 2025-26 regular season.Source: Shams Charania
Shams Charania of ESPN reports that forward
