Edward Cabrera Hopeful to Avoid Injured List
Edward Cabrera (elbow) appears to have avoided any major injuries. The MRI on Cabrera came back clean, so there's no structural damage done to his elbow. The right-hander was forced to make an early exit from Friday's start. The organization is hopeful that Cabrera is able to avoid a trip to the injured list. Luckily, Cabrera will get an extended week off with the All-Star break beginning on Monday. The Marlins will likely wait and see how Cabrera feels after a few days before making any further decisions.Source: Craig Mish
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Alec Bohm Held Out on Sunday
Alec Bohm (rib) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres. Unsurprisingly, Bohm will take a seat after exiting early on Saturday due to a bruised left rib cage. This is the final game before the All-Star break, so it's not shocking to see the Phillies giving Bohm the day off. The hope is that he'll be ready to go following the break. In the meantime, Edmundo Sosa will bat eighth and play third base versus right-hander Nick Pivetta on Sunday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.Source: mlb.com
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Oneil Cruz Absent on Sunday
Oneil Cruz (hip) is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The Pirates will hold Cruz out of this contest after he exited on Saturday due to a hip flexor issue. The assumption is that the Pirates are just taking the cautious approach with this being the final game before the All-Star break. Jack Suwinski will cover center field and bat sixth during Sunday's game. The hope is that Cruz can still participate in the Home Run Derby, but that decision will likely be made closer to the event.Source: mlb
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder CJ Abrams Scratched on Sunday
CJ Abrams (undisclosed) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. There is no word on why Abrams is being pulled from the lineup, but there should be more information shortly. This is the final game before the All-Star break, so hopefully Abrams will be fine to play after the break. In the meantime, Paul DeJong will cover shortstop and bat cleanup versus right-hander Freddy Peralta on Sunday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.Source: mlb.com
Washington Nationals shortstop Gavin Sheets Placed on Paternity List
Gavin Sheets on the paternity list before their contest on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies. In a corresponding move, the Padres promoted catcher Luis Campusano from Triple-A El Paso to take his spot on the roster. Sheets has enjoyed a productive debut campaign in San Diego and is on pace to enjoy a career season. Through 92 contests, the Wake Foret product has posted a .265/.324/.451 slash line with 14 long balls. Under the hood, Sheets has generated an elite .364 xwOBA, .288 xBA, .501 xSLG, and a 42.1% hard-hit rate, all of which are well above the average marks among qualified hitters. While Sheets is held out of action, fantasy managers should expect Bryce Johnson and Tyler Wade to see time in left field.Source: San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres have placed first baseman/outfielder Luis Urias Activated, Zack Gelof Optioned
Luis Urias (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list before their contest on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays. In a corresponding move, the Athletics optioned second baseman Zack Gelof to Triple-A Las Vegas. Urias suffered this injury on July 2 but was able to make a quick return to the starting nine. Before his injury, Urias was carrying a .227/.244/.227 line with just 10 total hits (all singles) across his last 12 games. Gelof made his season debut earlier in July but has posted an underwhelming .080/.143/.080 line with a .223 OPS through eight games. Fantasy managers should expect Urias to see most of the opportunities at the keystone during the second half. With Urias returning, this could also limit Max Muncy's starting opportunities as well.Source: A's Communications
The Athletics have activated infielder Lars Nootbaar Placed on 10-Day Injured List
Lars Nootbaar (ribs) was placed on the 10-day injured list before their contest on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. Katie Woo of The Athletic reported that this is the same injury that has bothered Nootbaar for the past few weeks. Nootbaar was lifted from Saturday's game due to discomfort. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during the All-Star break. Since the start of the month, the outfielder has posted a modest .219/.306/.375 with two doubles and one home run. Overall, he sits with a .227/.332/.381 line and a below-average .330 xwOBA. This afternoon, the Cardinals will give Jose Fermin the starting nod in left field. While he remains sidelined, Fermin, Brendan Donovan, and Alec Burleson should see most of the opportunities in left field.Source: Katie Woo
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Thairo Estrada Remains Sidelined on Sunday
Thairo Estrada (thumb) remains out of the starting nine on Sunday when the Rockies conclude a series against the Cincinnati Reds. Estrada has been dealing with a thumb injury since July 7. This is Estrada's fifth-straight sitting out. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, as the Rockies may opt to place him on the injured list after the All-Star break. Estrada also missed time earlier this season due to a fractured wrist. However, when on the field, he has been very productive. Through 29 games, Estrada has held a .284/.312/.397 slash line with seven doubles, two home runs, and one stolen base. This afternoon, the veteran infielder Kyle Farmer is slated to cover the keystone. The Rockies are worth a look in DFS facing Cincinnati right-hander Nick Martinez.Source: MLB.com
Colorado Rockies infielder Jake Burger Scratched on Sunday
Jake Burger (quadriceps) has been scratched from Sunday's lineup. Burger was initially expected to rejoin the starting nine on Sunday after sitting out on Saturday with a quadriceps injury. However, the team will opt to exercise caution and keep him out for the final game of the first half. Instead, Alejandro Osuna will serve as the designated hitter and bat in the eight hole. Following a rough start to his tenure in Texas, Burger has begun to turn the corner at the plate. Over his last eight games, the slugger has posted a strong .323/.344/.452 slash line with one double and one home run. Under the hood, he holds a .467 xSLG, 13.4% barrel rate, and a 48.3% hard-hit rate, which suggests he should continue to enjoy a power surge in the second half. The Rangers are best to fade in DFS facing Houston right-hander Hunter Brown.Source: Evan Grant
Texas Rangers infielder Ivan Herrera Back in Action on Sunday
Ivan Herrera (hamstring) has been activated off the 10-day injured list and is in Sunday's lineup when they conclude a series against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon. The backstop has been out of action with a Grade 2 hamstring strain since June 20. While Herrera was not expected to return until the second half of the season, the Cardinals opted to give him the nod in the game before the All-Star break. This afternoon, he is serving as the designated hitter and batting in the two-hole. Throughout most of the first half, Herrera has seen time as a DH and not behind the plate due to his struggles defensively. However, in the batter's box, he has been very effective, boasting a .320/.392/.533 line. He is a solid option in DFS facing Atlanta starter Davis Daniel.Source: MLB.com
St. Louis Cardinals catcher James Wood Out Against Brewers
James Wood will head to the bench for Sunday's series finale on the road in Milwaukee versus Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. Alex Call draws into the starting lineup in left field and will hit second against Peralta. The Nats will give Wood a day off heading into next week's All-Star break after he started in 174 straight games since joining the big-league roster. It makes sense, as the 22-year-old left-handed slugger will take part in the Home Run Derby and the All-Star game this coming week. The former second-rounder is one of the best young hitters in the game, but he's also gone hitless in his last three games and is batting .244 (10-for-41) with two home runs, five RBI, seven runs and a steal in 11 games in the month of July. Call has only faced Peralta once in his career and has only two homers in 175 at-bats in 2025.Source: MLB.com

Andrew Vaughn Resting on Sunday
Andrew Vaughn is getting the day off in Sunday's series finale against the visiting Washington Nationals at American Family Field. Jake Bauers will make the start at first base and will bat sixth against Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. After flaming out with the Chicago White Sox as a former first-round pick, the Brewers traded for Vaughn this year, and he's taken full advantage of his opportunities in Milwaukee with Rhys Hoskins (thumb) on the injured list. In just five games with the Brew Crew, the 27-year-old right-handed hitter has gone 6-for-14 with two home runs, two doubles, 10 RBI and three runs scored. He went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI in Saturday's victory over Washington. Vaughn should continue to get chances at first base in Milwaukee, at least until Hoskins recovers from his thumb ailment.Source: MLB.com

Can Anyone Beat Shane van Gisbergen at Sonoma?
Source: Jeff Gluck
For a second race weekend in a row, Shane van Gisbergen is the heavy favorite to win the NASCAR Cup Series race. Last week at the Chicago Street Course, Michael McDowell looked like he could contend with SVG, but once McDowell had his mechanical issues, van Gisbergen went on to put on a dominating effort en route to his second win of the season. Now SVG is on the pole for Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma and is the heavy favorite to win his third race of the year. Can he get it done, though? SVG himself wasn't entirely confident after practice, saying it was a "bit of a worry" and that the No. 88 Chevrolet isn't very good--especially on the long runs. Of course, he said a similar comment after practice at Mexico City and went on to obliterate the field there. SVG should still be considered the most likely to win and dominate the race at Sonoma this weekend.Ceddanne Rafaela Hitting Sixth in Series Finale
Ceddanne Rafaela is starting in center field and is batting sixth on Sunday in the series finale against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Ryan Pepiot at Fenway Park. Rafaela, who has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball for a while now, played second for the first time this year and hit out of the two-hole on Saturday with third baseman Alex Bregman resting. The 24-year-old hit a walk-off homer in the ninth on Friday night and is currently in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak in which he's batting .429 (15-for-35) with four home runs, six doubles, 13 RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases in 36 plate appearances. Not only is Rafaela one of the hottest hitters in the game right now, but he's hit .364 with two RBI in 11 career at-bats against Pepiot. Keep him in your starting lineups.Source: MLB.com
Boston Red Sox infielder/outfielder Tyler Reddick Better at Sonoma Than Record Shows
Source: Jayski
If you just look at finishing position, you'd think Tyler Reddick is pretty bad at Sonoma. His results in four career starts at this track are 19th, 35th, 33rd, and eighth. For one of the elite road course racers in the series, that's pretty bad. But finishing position doesn't tell the whole story. In two of those races, Reddick was running fourth before mechanical issues redetailed his day, and in terms of speed in the Next Gen era, he ranks seventh-best over those three races at Sonoma. This weekend, Reddick qualified eighth for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 and should be a solid top 10, if not top five contender. In practice on Saturday, the No. 45 Toyota ranked sixth-fastest in 10-lap average. As far as DFS goes, there are better options out there than Reddick, who is a bit pricy at $10,300 and with limited Place Differential upside, but you should still have some exposure if you're mass entering.Davis Daniel Recalled by Braves
Davis Daniel from Triple-A Gwinnett, according to the team. Daniel is scheduled to start on Sunday for the Braves against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 28-year-old has pitched just one inning in the majors for Atlanta in 2025, but he's logged 76 2/3 innings (14 starts) at Triple-A. He's 5-7 with a 3.52 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and an unimpressive 8.8% K-BB% in the minors. The Braves optioned lefty reliever Austin Cox to Triple-A as the corresponding move for recalling Daniel.Source: Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves have recalled right-handed pitcher Chase Elliott a Prime DFS Option at Sonoma
Source: ifantasyrace
Chase Elliott is an elite road course racer, and that is especially the case at Sonoma Raceway. Although the Hendrick Motorsports driver has never won in Wine Country, Chase has the third-best average finish (5.7) at Sonoma in the Next Gen era and ranks fourth-best in driver rating over that same time span. He consistently runs up front at this race track and that should be the case in this weekend's Toyota/Save Mart 350 as well. As far as practice goes, the No. 9 Chevrolet wasn't crazy fast on Saturday (15th-best) but Elliott had consistent speed over the course of a long run during that session. He qualified 13th for this weekend's race, which means there's some Place Differential upside for him in DFS contests as well as the finishing position upside. At $9,800 on DraftKings, Chase Elliott is a premier daily fantasy target on Sunday.Marcell Ozuna Getting Sunday Off
Marcell Ozuna is not in the starting lineup on Sunday for his team's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Sean Murphy will get the start at DH in his place and bat fourth. Ozuna has had somewhat of a strange season so far in 2025. His 16.2% walk rate would be the best full-season mark of his career by a significant margin, but his .396 slugging percentage is 150 points lower than the .546 mark he posted in 2024. In totality, Ozuna is hitting .239 with 13 home runs, 42 RBI, and 37 runs scored in 388 plate appearances. His .483 xSLG suggests he'll provide fantasy managers with a better power output in the post-All-Star break portion of the season.Source: MLB.com
Atlanta Braves designated hitter Julius Chestnut, Kalel Mullings Competing for RB3 Role
TennnesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt points to a battle to watch during training camp being the one between Tennessee Titans running backsMichael McDowell Struggling a Bit at Sonoma
Source: ifantasyrace
After showing race-winning speed before mechanical issues struck at the Chicago Street Course last weekend, many people expected Michael McDowell to roll into Sonoma and look like one of the drivers to beat again. However, that was simply not the case this weekend. The No. 71 team was a little disadvantaged in practice on Saturday since they went out with the first group (and slower track conditions), but McDowell himself mentioned afterward that the speed just wasn't there in the race car this weekend. Now the question becomes, will the Spire Motorsports team be able to make the right adjustments for race day? Sonoma is one of the best tracks on the circuit for Michael McDowell, as he has had the best speed here in the Next Gen era and an average finish of 4.0 over the three races. Starting 15th and being priced at an affordable $9,300 on DraftKings, McDowell should be a solid DFS play on Sunday if he can just do his normal thing in the race.Carlos Correa Returns to Twins Lineup
Carlos Correa (ankle) is back in the lineup for his team's Sunday game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after being held out on Saturday. His return is excellent news for Minnesota, as it looked like Correa may have suffered a serious injury when Pirates outfielder Tommy Pham collided with his lower leg in a play at second base on Friday night. Injuries have historically been an issue for Correa, but he's managed to largely stay healthy in 2025, logging 318 plate appearances so far. However, his production on the field is below his usual standard. Correa has posted a .261/.302/.385 slash line with seven home runs and 30 RBI.Source: MLB.com
Minnesota Twins shortstop Matt Shaw Out of Starting Lineup for Third Consecutive Day
Matt Shaw is absent from the starting lineup for his team's Sunday afternoon game against the New York Yankees. Shaw has now been on the bench for four out of the Cubs' last five games and three straight, so this could be a more permanent role change for the struggling youngster. Utility man Vidal Brujan is playing third and batting ninth today, while veteran Jon Berti got the start at the hot corner on both Friday and Saturday. The 23-year-old Shaw won the Cubs' third base job out of Spring Training, but he's hit .199 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 28 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases. With the trade deadline nearing and the Cubs reportedly searching for upgrades, Shaw could soon be looking at a demotion to Triple-A.Source: MLB.com
Chicago Cubs third baseman Connor Norby Placed on 10-Day Injured List
Connor Norby (wrist) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with left-wrist inflammation, according to Daniel Alvarez-Montes of El Extrabase. Infielder Graham Pauley was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville as the corresponding move and will start at third base and bat eighth for the Marlins in their Sunday game against the Baltimore Orioles. The 25-year-old Norby missed the start of the season due to an oblique strain, so this is his second trip to the injured list in 2025. In 273 plate appearances, Norby is hitting .241/.289/.364 with six home runs, 26 RBI, 33 runs scored, and seven stolen bases. It remains to be seen how long this latest injury will keep him sidelined.Source: El Extrabase - Daniel Avarez-Montes

Blake Sabol Traded to White Sox
Blake Sabol to the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations, per MassLive's Chris Cotillo. The 27-year-old Sabol appeared in eight games this season for Boston, hitting .125 with a 38.9% strikeout rate. He wasn't much better in 167 plate appearances at Triple-A Worcester, slashing .167/.281/.299 with three home runs, 17 RBI, 15 runs scored, and seven stolen bases. Sabol is the rare catcher-eligible player with some speed, but he's not yet proven he can hit at the big league level. It does not appear as though he'll immediately have a spot on Chicago's 40-man roster.Source: Mass Live - Chris Cotillo
The Boston Red Sox have traded catcher/outfielder Cam Hart Recovering From Shoulder Surgery
Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper
Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Cam Hart (shoulder) missed most of the spring program while he rehab from offseason shoulder surgery, which made it hard to get a read on where the team's rotations stood during OTAs and minicamp, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper. Hart and Tarheeb Still both had solid rookie seasons in 2024, but Donte Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste enter the picture as free-agent additions in 2025, while Ja'Sir Taylor and Deane Leonard return as veterans. It's unclear exactly how the Chargers plan to attack their cornerback rotations. Popper explains that they have plenty of choices. They could have a package with bigger bodies outside, they could have a package with smaller ball-hawking types, or they could mix and match.Christopher Bell Has Never Finished Better Than Ninth at Sonoma
Source: ifantasyrace
Christopher Bell is one of the elite road course racers in the NASCAR Cup Series, but he has struggled to put it all together at Sonoma Raceway. In four career starts in Wine Country, CBell has two top-10 finishes (in each of the last two seasons) but they were both ninth-place results--which is surprising considering he has posted five top-five finishes over the last 10 road course races overall. Eventually, though, Bell will get a great finish at Sonoma. Will that be this weekend? The No. 20 Toyota will roll off the starting grid from 10th-place for Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350, but Bell looked to have much better race speed than that in practice. In that session, he was seventh-best in five-lap average, third-best in 10-lap average, and second-fastest in 15-lap average. If those speeds hold true during the race, we should be looking at a career-best Sonoma finish out of Christopher Bell on Sunday.Ryan Blaney Has Top-10 Upside at Sonoma
Source: ifantasyrace
Ryan Blaney typically isn't the first driver that most people think of when it comes to the NASCAR Cup Series, but the Team Penske driver has been solid at Sonoma Raceway. Over the last seven races in Wine Country, Blaney has posted a top-10 finish five times, and in the three Next Gen races, he has two top-10 results and a driver rating over 100 in both of those events as well. This weekend, the No. 12 Ford showed good speed in practice (Blaney was fifth-best in five-lap average during practice) and then went out and qualified seventh for Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350. All signs point to this being a strong afternoon race for Blaney. As far as DFS goes, Blaney is strictly a tournament option due to his high starting position, but his strong track history makes him a very intriguing play on DraftKings, especially at his relatively cheap salary of $7,500.
