Odell Beckham Jr. 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: Remains On PUP List, Out Until Week 5
4 months agoOdell Beckham Jr. (undisclosed) signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Miami Dolphins in May. The name itself conjures up images of one-handed catches and circus grabs. Can OBJ reclaim his glory days in South Beach? There's no denying Beckham's talent. He's a walking highlight reel with a knack for finding the endzone (remember that Super Bowl catch for the Rams?). Under the youthful leadership of Tua Tagovailoa, the Miami offense boasts a dynamic skillset with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle stretching the field. The talent around him bodes well for Beckham – defenses can't afford to double-cover him. Beckham's 2023 season with Baltimore was a rollercoaster. OBJ racked up 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns over 14 games for the Ravens. Moments of brilliance were often overshadowed by inconsistency and disappearing acts. He ended the season as a low-end WR3, a significant drop from his peak performance. The ticking clock (Beckham will be 32 this year) raises concerns about his diminishing athleticism. Drafting Beckham in 2024 is a calculated gamble with upside. He's not just a nostalgia pick; he's worth the gamble as a late-round flier in an explosive offense. The former New York Giant is free at his NFFC ADP of WR138, which is much lower than his RotoBaller wide receiver ranking of 92. As always, keep an eye on training camp reports and preseason games, but don't sleep on OBJ. Miami's new star could shine brighter than ever with the Dolphins. Update 08/28/24: Beckham missed all of training camp as he continued to recover from offseason surgery. He was placed on the PUP list and won't be eligible to return until Week 5. Fantasy managers in deep-league formats with an IR spot can stash Beckham for now.
