5 years agoThe San Francisco Giants selected North Carolina State pitcher Nick Swiney with the 67th overall pick in the second round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Swiney was 11-1 in his first two years in college as a middle reliever and won all four of his starts this spring before the season was shut down. However, the 21-year-old southpaw showed better stuff out of the bullpen, so his future role remains undecided because of his limited work as a starter. Swiney's changeup was a real force this spring and showed signs of becoming a plus offering. He's a high-effort guy that will need to throw quality strikes and prove that he can maintain his stuff as a starter.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
