Nick Senzel Hitting In Simulated Game Friday
2 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Senzel (toe) will take a big step on Friday when he hits in a simulated game on the back fields at camp, according to manager David Bell. Senzel has been behind in spring training after having toe surgery in the offseason. If he's unable to get into Cactus League games by the middle of this month, he'll almost certainly open the 2023 regular season on the injured list. Even if he's ready for Opening Day at the end of March, fantasy managers might have already moved on from the 27-year-old. The former first-rounder continues to be hurt by injuries, and he hit a disappointing .231/.296/.306 with a career-low .601 OPS, five home runs, 25 RBI, 45 runs and eight stolen bases in 110 games in 2022. Senzel will be a lineup regular for the Reds when healthy, but the only real positive right now is that he's still on the right side of 30.
