Mitch Haniger Not Doing Much At Camp
5 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (back) is back in camp but cannot do any lifting or much activities for another month following microdiscectomy surgery on his back. There remains no timetable for Haniger's return, but he fully expects to return this season and is relieved to finally have some answers for his back issues. It's looking like the 29-year-old will miss most of the first half of the season, which likely rules him out for most mixed league drafts. Haniger played in only 63 games in 2019 because of groin and back injuries and hit just .220 with 15 home runs and 32 RBI. He showed what he can do when healthy, though, hitting .285/.366/.493 with 26 home runs, 93 RBI and eight steals in 2018. Jake Fraley and Braden Bishop will have an opportunity to play more to begin the season until Haniger can return.
