Michael Gallup 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Late-Round Sleeper After 2022 Misfortune
2 years agoDallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup was almost non-existent as a fantasy option in 2022. He missed the first three weeks of the season recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in 2021 and didn't provide much fantasy value when he did play. Gallup caught 39 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns and averaged just 7.53 PPR fantasy points per game. It was a disappointing fantasy year for Gallup on a pass-friendly offense in Dallas. However, 2023 could be a better year for the 27-year-old wideout. Gallup has expressed this offseason how confident he is heading into the year, describing how he "was overthinking, my knee was sore" in 2022. The offseason acquisition of Brandin Cooks will slightly hurt his fantasy value, though Dallas' offense can support three fantasy-relevant wide receivers. In 2020, Gallup finished the year as the WR38 in PPR behind CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper, and that was without Dak Prescott for the majority of the season. According to head coach Mike McCarthy, the 27-year-old wideout is also expected to have an expanded role this season. Gallup should be back to 100% on the field in a top-five offense, which makes him a sleeper at his ADP. He's ranked 154th overall in the latest RotoBaller rankings.
