The New York Mets have received permission to interview Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell for their managerial position, according to league sources. The Brewers had initially indicated they wouldn't give permission to the Mets, and Counsell's contract would have to expire. However, the Brewers have changed course. Counsell is expected to explore other opportunities, including the Brewers, and the Mets will have other candidates, so it's not a done deal that he will replace Buck Showalter as New York's manager in 2024 and beyond. He led Milwaukee to a 707-625 mark since becoming the manager in 2015. If he were hired by the Mets, he'd reunite with new president of baseball operations David Stearns, who stepped down as Brewers president in 2022.--Keith HernandezRead More News
