The New York Mets selected Mississippi State pitcher J.T. Ginn with the 52nd overall pick in the second round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Ginn was drafted 30th overall by the Dodgers in 2018 but chose to go to college, where he was the SEC freshman of the year. If not for Tommy John surgery this spring, Ginn would've been a first-round pick this year. The 21-year-old right-hander tops out at 97 mph and has excellent life on his heater. He also features a wipeout slider and a good changeup with downward action. Ginn had just 19 walks and a homer allowed in 86 1/3 innings as a freshman and can command his pitches despite all the movement. The athleticism is there, but there are questions surrounding his durability, even before his elbow surgery.--Keith HernandezRead More News
