Melvin Ingram Not Happy With Contract
4 years agoLos Angeles Chargers defensive end Melvin Ingram is sitting out of practice at training camp because he's not pleased with his contract situation, according to multiple team sources. It's not known when he'll return to the practice field. Ingram is in the final year of his current four-year deal and could be trying to leverage the team for a new deal or to try and earn guaranteed money. None of his $14 million base salary in 2020 is guaranteed, and any guaranteed money unearned because of a COVID-19-related league shutdown would be shifted to a player's next contract or be paid out in the future if the player doesn't sign another deal. New contract or not, the 31-year-old pass-rusher has been a first-team All-Pro each of the last three seasons and deserves to be a starting defensive lineman each week in IDP fantasy leagues.
