Mekhi Becton Needs Surgery, Expected Out 4-6 Weeks
3 years agoNew York Jets starting left tackle Mekhi Becton (knee) is expected to be out for four to six weeks while needing arthroscopic knee surgery to clean up damaged MCL cartilage that he suffered in the Week 1 loss to the Carolina Panthers, according to a source. When Becton was injured, the Jets moved George Fant to left tackle and Morgan Moses to right tackle, so that will likely be the setup on the offensive line moving forward. It's a significant blow for the Jets offensive line and for the protection of rookie quarterback Zach Wilson. Wilson was already a low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes, and the injury to his first-round blind-side protector won't make life any easier as the Jets head into a tough Week 2 matchup against the division-rival New England Patriots.
