Matt Canada Expected To Return To Steelers
2 years agoThe Pittsburgh Steelers have no plans to replace offensive coordinator Matt Canada and he is expected to return to head coach Mike Tomlin's coaching staff in 2023, according to sources. Canada will return for his third season as the offensive coordinator despite public outcry to fire him and several rumors about his coaching status. The offense continued to show signs of improvement late in the season, leaving little doubt that he'd return. Rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett also showed nice development as well despite the offense having 28 touchdowns, the third-fewest in the league. In the two seasons with Canada as the OC, the Steelers have averaged 19.1 points per game, which is 7.5 points fewer than they did in 2020. The Steelers were the only team in the league in 2022 to have only three plays longer than 40 yards.
