The Seattle Mariners selected Georgia pitcher Emerson Hancock with the sixth overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft on Wednesday. Hancock was college baseball's best pitcher for the first half of last season and was in play for the No. 1 overall pick this year because of that. The 21-year-old right-hander wasn't as sharp in the brief 2020 season, which is likely why he fell out of the top five. Hancock pounds the strike zone with a mid-90s fastball that can peak in the high-90s. All three of his secondary pitches are at least plus, with his go-to breaking pitch a mid-80s slider. A very good athlete with great body control, Hancock should be a future front-line starter in the big leagues if he can stay healthy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
