Tyler Stephenson Set For Rehab Assignment After Thumb Injury
Tyler Stephenson (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday as he recovers from a left thumb fracture. The 29-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list on August 17 and appears on track to return within the next couple of weeks. Stephenson caught two innings of Chase Burns' simulated bullpen Tuesday and has also been taking batting practice and working additional bullpen sessions. He is slashing .226/.313/.393 with a .706 OPS and nine home runs in his sixth season. The Reds hope his return can spark their push in the NL Wild Card race.
