Marco Raya, Kala'i Rosario Close Out Twins Draft
4 years agoThe Minnesota Twins selected United South High School pitcher Marco Raya with the 128th overall pick in the fourth round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. They finished off their draft this year by taking Waiakea High School outfielder Kala'i Rosario in the fifth round (158th overall). Raya is a high-upside 17-year-old right-hander despite being just 6-foot-1, 170 pounds. His fastball tops out in the mid-90s and he has a lot of spin with his four-pitch mix. Durability concerns because of his size could lead to him being a reliever in pro ball. Raya will forego his commitment to Texas Tech. Rosario is bat-first with plus-plus raw power from the right side. He can get pull-happy at the plate and probably isn't quick enough to stick in center field at the next level.
