Mallex Smith Ties Team Record With Four Steals
6 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mallex Smith went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers. He recorded four steals to tie a team record, including a steal of second, third and home in the bottom of the eighth inning. The last Mariners player to steal four in a game was shortstop Jean Segura on May 15, 2018, also against the Rangers. He is also the first M's player to swipe home since Dustin Ackley accomplished the feat May 20, 2012 in Colorado. Despite the big game he is still hitting just .176 and will need to hit more to be anything more than a fantasy stolen base specialist.
