Luis Campusano Rehabbing At Triple-A
1 year agoSan Diego Padres catcher Luis Campusano (thumb) has played in two minor-league rehab games for Triple-A El Paso, going 3-for-6 with a double and two runs scored. That came after he went 2-for-10 with two doubles and two RBI in three games at the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League earlier this month. The 24-year-old backstop is attempting to return after having left-thumb surgery, and he could rejoin the major-league roster early in the second half of the season, which begins this Friday. Gary Sanchez has been a good find for the Friars, but Campusano should at least be an upgrade over the slumping Austin Nola, who has hit just .143 in 150 plate appearances in 2023.
