Logan Gilbert Throws 60 Pitches in Latest Rehab Outing
Logan Gilbert (elbow) was able to throw 60 pitches in his second rehab outing on Wednesday evening with Triple-A Tacoma. In this start, the right-hander logged three innings of two-run ball with five hits and a walk. He struck out two. In this outing, Gilbert's velocity steadily declined as he progressed through the game. In his first start with Triple-A Tacoma, Gilbert logged just 1 2/3 innings of work and held a 3:2 K:BB. The 28-year-old is still working his way back from a right elbow flexor strain that has kept him on the injured list since April 26. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, as Gilbert may be cleared to rejoin Seattle in the coming days. Before his injury, the 28-year-old was enjoying an impressive start to the season, logging 30 1/3 innings to the tune of a 2.37 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP. When he is cleared to return, he will carry high-end SP1 upside in all leagues. Emerson Hancock will likely shift to the bullpen or be optioned to Triple-A when Gilbert returns.
