La'Mical Perine To Have Much Bigger Role
4 years agoNew York Jets rookie running back La'Mical Perine will have a bigger role in the backfield alongside veteran Frank Gore now that Le'Veon Bell is out of town. "Perine's definitely going to get a bigger role. Frank, you're not going to lean on him as heavy a load. Getting Perine really involved is going to be critical for us," head coach Adam Gase said. Gore is the team's leading rusher this year with 64 carries for 204 yards (3.2 yards per carry), but Perine will get his chance to mix in with Bell out of the picture. Perine was impressing the coaching staff before an ankle injury in training camp. The injury slowed him down and his integration into the offense. The fourth-rounder has 15 carries for 56 yards (3.7 yards per carry) in four games this year. Perine, 22, has three-down abilities but is in a dysfunctional offense and probably won't see a huge workload right away. He's worth stashing in deeper leagues, though, and should most certainly be owned in dynasty/keeper leagues.
