Kyle Tucker Gets Start After Late-Inning Heroics
6 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker will get the start in left field Wednesday night against the Rockies. Tucker came off the bench Tuesday night and roped a two-run triple in extra innings to bust the game open en route to an 8-2 Astros win in 10 innings. It has been a struggle finding at-bats for one of Houston's top prospects since being called up July 7 and is hitting only .162 through 37 at-bats. Tucker has made only two starts since the All-Star break after getting a week's worth of starts after initially being promoted to the big league club. Tucker will stay in the mix, for now, with outfielder/infielder Marwin Gonzalez filling in for the injured Carlos Correa but the 21-year-old could still be the odd man out for the stretch run. The Astros could certainly add outfield help at the deadline via trade and veteran Josh Reddick is slugging .508 thus far in July. These developments could stunt the growth of the talented, but inexperienced, Tucker moving forward.
