Kristian Campbell to Play First Base This Weekend
Kristian Campbell will play one game at first base during this weekend's series in Atlanta against the Braves. Triston Casas (knee) is out for the season, and Romy Gonzalez (quadriceps) is still on the injured list, so the Red Sox have been mixing and matching at first base recently with Abraham Toro and Nick Sogard. Campbell will get his first test at the cold corner this weekend, but there's no guarantee the 22-year-old youngster will see enough playing time there the rest of the season to gain eligibility in fantasy leagues. After a strong start to his first season in the big leagues this year, Campbell, a former fourth-rounder in 2023 out of Georgia Institute of Technology, has struggled and is currently hitting .225/.312/.354 in 178 at-bats. He's batting .120 (9-for-75) with a homer, four RBI and 23 strikeouts in 19 games in May.
