Kevin Kiermaier Remains Out Against Red Sox
Kevin Kiermaier (back) remains sidelined for the team's Friday game against the visiting Boston Red Sox. There remains a possibility that Kiermaier will need to go on the injured list if he's unable to get back on the field this weekend, as he hasn't played at all this week due to back spasms. Daulton Varsho will continue to patrol center field while batting eighth in the lineup on Friday against Red Sox left-hander James Paxton. The 33-year-old Kiermaier has had a very solid season to this point in his first year in Toronto, slashing .276/.332/.444 with four home runs, 11 doubles, a league-leading five triples, 18 RBI, eight stolen bases and 32 runs in 66 games. He's been cold of late, though, going 8-for-48 (.167) with no homers, two RBI and three steals in his last 21 games this month.
