Kevin Gausman To Start Second Game Of Season
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman will start the team's second game of the season at home against the Rangers, per MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. Gausman signed a five-year, $110 million contract with the Jays this off-season, but Jose Berrios will get the Opening Day nod. The 31-year-old had a stellar 2021 season, going 14-6 with a 2.81 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 29.3% strikeout rate over 192 innings pitched with the San Francisco Giants. He will move to a debatably tougher division and will leave the pitcher-friendly confines of Oracle Park, but should still serve as a higher-end starter for fantasy managers this season. Gausman is currently being drafted as the 23rd pitcher off the board, making him a high-end SP 2.
