Nashville Predators right wing Matthew Wood celebrated his first career hat trick in Monday's 6-3 road loss to the New York Rangers. He had a pair of power-play goals and an even-strength marker. Blake Geoffrion was previously the only rookie in Predators history to post a hat trick in a regular-season contest. Wood also became only the second Predators player to score a goal in each of his first three road games of a season. Following Monday's outing, Wood is on a run of nine points (six goals, three assists) in seven games. In total, the 20-year-old has bagged six goals and 10 points in 11 games for his rookie campaign. Few expected Wood to have a significant impact in 2025-26, yet right now, only three first-year players have been more offensively productive than him.--Taavi Pailk
