Luke Fickell Will Return as Wisconsin's Head Coach in 2026
Wisconsin Athletic Director Chris McIntosh confirmed that head coach Luke Fickell will not be fired and will return for the 2026 campaign. Fickell has begun his tenure in Madison with a 15-19 overall record, including a 2-6 record through eight games of the 2025 campaign. "Chancellor (Jennifer) Mnookin and I are aligned on significantly elevating investment in our program to compete at the highest level," McIntosh told ESPN. "We are willing to make an investment in infrastructure and staff. As important, is our ability to retain and recruit players in a revenue share and NIL era." Fickell has been rumored to be on the hot seat based on his results during his four-year tenure after taking the job following a strong stint at Wisconsin, but he'll survive at least one more year as the programs looks to turn things around in the new era of college football. The Badgers close their season with games against Washington, Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota and could be staring down the barrel of a 2-10 campaign.
