Kenta Maeda Getting Second Opinions
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Kenta Maeda (forearm) is getting second opinions on his forearm issue because there is some concern about possible UCL involvement after he landed on the injured list on Monday. UCL involvement means potential Tommy John surgery if the injury is serious enough, so there's no guarantee that the 33-year-old right-hander will be back again this season. If Tommy John surgery is eventually required, Maeda would miss most, if not all, of the 2022 campaign. Maeda has been very average this year with a 4.66 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 113 strikeouts and 32 walks in 106 1/3 innings in his second season in Minnesota. In mixed leagues, we wouldn't recommend holding onto him since there's a chance he won't make it back to close out the year.
