Kelly Oubre Jr. 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoAfter his mid-season acquisition by the Suns, Kelly Oubre Jr. saw his offensive game erupt. In 40 games with Phoenix, Oubre averaged 16.9 points per game, filling a necessary scoring void in Devin Booker’s absence. Even with the Suns’ star back in the mix to open the 2019-20 campaign, Oubre figures to remain a prevalent offensive option after inking a new two-year deal in the offseason. Teammates Booker and Deandre Ayton will understandably draw a large share of the fantasy attention, but Oubre will be positioned as a mid-round fantasy Draft scoring threat on a team that has shown an aversion to consistently playing defense. Having seen his scoring average increase each year since entering the league, year 5 could prove vital for Oubre’s development on the heels of a campaign in which he shot a career-best 44.5 percent from the field. Oubre appears to have a strong hold on the small forward position for Phoenix, but could also see minutes at the four in smaller lineups, which should only help his rebounding numbers (4.7 per game last season). Additionally, on nights when Booker or Ayton fail to take the floor, Oubre should see a significant increase in ownership in the DFS market.
