Justin Upton Likely To Be Activated After All-Star Break
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels left fielder Justin Upton (back) is likely to be activated from the injured list after the All-Star break, according to manager Joe Maddon. "It hasn't progressed like we thought. I thought he'd be playing several days ago. It has not loosened up for him. Has a tightness he can't get rid of," Maddon said. Upton went on the injured list a few weeks ago with lower back tightness, and the timing was unfortunate, as he was swinging a hot bat after recently being moved to the leadoff spot. Overall, the 33-year-old is hitting .247/.336/.480 with 14 home runs, 32 RBI and three steals in 223 at-bats. Sit tight and hope that he can pick up where he left off when he returns in the second half. Phil Gosselin has been playing well as Upton's replacement in left field and is a short-term option in AL-only affairs.
