The San Diego Padres selected Liano High School pitcher Justin Lange with the 34th overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft on Wednesday. Lange was a late riser in the draft process after showing improved velocity last fall and into this spring when he touched 100 mph on the radar gun. His 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame is impressive for a prepster, but his lack of experience makes him a risk late in the first round. The 18-year-old features a slider that is powerful yet inconsistent, and his changeup remains a work-in-progress. Lange also showed promise as an outfielder with plus raw power and speed, so the athleticism definitely isn't lacking. There is a big ceiling here, but also a low floor, and he'll take plenty of time to develop in SD's farm system.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
