Justin Fields 2023 Player Outlook: Poised for a Year 3 Breakout?
1 year agoBears' quarterback Justin Fields was a force on the ground during the 2022 season rushing for 1,143 yards and 8 TDs, good for the 2nd-most rushing yards in an NFL season by a QB. However, Fields was relatively stagnant as a passer only throwing for 2,242 yards and 17 TDs. He has also been sacked 91 times in 2 seasons and has been known to hold onto the ball too long. This could be due to the lack of an offensive line and receiving weapons around him or his needing to develop more as a passer. In the offseason, the Bears traded for stud wide receiver D.J. Moore to be Fields' No. 1 option in the passing game in order to help elevate his game. 2023 will be a make-or-break season for Fields as the Bears' front office is stockpiled with future draft picks including 2 firsts in 2024. Nonetheless, Fields' fantasy ceiling in 2023 is as high as any quarterback.
