Jorge Soler Continues To Rake
7 years agoKansas City Royals outfielder Jorge Soler was a known quantity coming into 2018 -- a post-hype sleeper who packed a prodigious punch when he made contact but whose bat could cool an entire section of the stadium with all the whiffing it did. He got a surprise opportunity to start after Jorge Bonifacio got popped for performance-enhancing drugs, but everyone knew what was coming. Instead, Soler has been converted. He doubled twice on Wednesday, driving his batting average up to .315 on the season while his on-base percentage rose to .436. That’s the eighth best OBP in Major League Baseball. He’s only got three home runs so far and still makes some seriously bone-headed baserunning mistakes, but Soler has become a bonafide well-rounded hitter.
