Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares (undisclosed) will miss his first game of the season on Wednesday against Philadelphia. The Maple Leafs captain wasn't at Tuesday's practice and was considered a game-time decision for the match alongside Ondrej Kase, who will play. Alexander Kerfoot will replace Tavares on the second line. The 27-year-old enters the contest with six points for the year. He's notched four of his points in the last five games, so Kerfoot has picked up some form before pairing up with Mitchell Marner. After Wednesday, Toronto gets one night off before facing Calgary on Friday and Buffalo on Saturday. Tavares might end up missing multiple games if he doesn't recover soon.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
