Jets Hopeful Michael Carter Will Clear Concussion Protocol
3 years agoNew York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said the team is hopeful that rookie running back Michael Carter (head) will clear the league's concussion protocol by Sunday's regular season finale against the Buffalo Bills. Carter was playing well before suffering a concussion in Week 17 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, carrying the ball three times for 54 yards and catching a nine-yard pass. Austin Walter had a team-high 14 carries for 49 yards, while Ty Johnson saw five rushing attempts for 35 yards and a touchdown and also caught three of four targets for 47 yards. Tevin Coleman could return from the COVID-19 list for the season finale, so New York's backfield is in flux at the moment with Carter in the concussion protocol. If Carter clears the protocol, he should be New York's primary back. Otherwise, this could be a full-blown committee in a bad matchup.
