Jesse Winker Battling Sore Hip
4 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker (hip) isn't concerned that he'll miss much time while battling a sore right hip this spring that caused him to be scratched from the Cactus League lineup on Monday and Tuesday. Winker is taking a couple of days off and has the luxury of not battling for a 26-man roster spot in camp. While he'll be a lock for the regular season roster, Winker will be competing with outfielders Shogo Akiyama, Nick Castellanos, Aristides Aquino, Mark Payton and Tyler Naquin for playing time in Cincinnati. The 27-year-old hit .255/.388/.544 with 12 home runs and 23 RBI in 54 games last year and had a slash line of .269/.357/.473 with 16 long balls and 38 RBI in 113 games in his last full season in 2019. There's plenty of time for him to get back on the field and be ready for Opening Day.
