New England Patriots linebackers coach Jerod Mayo is expected to emerge as a leading candidate for the Houston Texans head coaching job after they fired David Culley on Thursday, according to sources. Mayo, 35, is nearing the end of his third season coaching linebackers for the Patriots. He has always dreamed of being a head coach and confirmed that he'd accept an interview request from the Denver Broncos for their head coaching position, although Mayo won't interview until after the Patriots season is over. If Mayo were to go to Houston, he'd be reunited with former Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio, who is now Houston's general manager. Mayo originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in 2008 by the Patriots, and he spent eight years in the league and made the Pro Bowl twice.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
