James Paxton Blanks Astros
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starter James Paxton tossed seven shutout innings as the Mariners blanked the Astros 2-0. Paxton (9-4) returned to the mound after missing a turn with back stiffness and looked on top of his game. He allowed only three hits, struck out eight and made it deep into the game on only 82 pitches. The lefty has dominated the Astros this season, allowing only two runs in three starts spanning 20 2/3 innings this season. Paxton has now struck out 163 hitters through 126 1/3 innings pitched this season with an excellent 1.05 WHIP. Paxton appears to be healthy and the Mariners will need their ace at their best if they hope to chase down the Astros for the division lead.
