Jalen Ramsey, Rams Agree On Massive Extension
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Rams and cornerback Jalen Ramsey agreed on a massive contract extension on Wednesday. Ramsey's five-year, $105 million extension averages $21 million per year and is the largest contract signed by a cornerback. He's the first defensive back in NFL history to sign a deal worth more than $100 million and his $71.2 million at signing is the largest guarantee for a defensive back. The Rams acquired Ramsey from the Jaguars last year for two first-round picks, and now they finally have him locked up for the long term. The 25-year-old is one of the best shutdown corners in the league and has made the Pro Bowl each of the last three seasons. However, like most shutdown corners, he's not much of an IDP asset because opposing quarterbacks often ignore his side of the field. Ramsey had 31 solo tackles, one interception and four passes defensed in his nine games played with LA last season.
