As we’ve all heard by now, New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom left Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves after only 46 pitches with what was eventually diagnosed as a hyperextended right elbow. After the 7-0 loss, Mets manager Mickey Callaway told the media that the injury occurred while deGrom was swinging the bat. deGrom is set to undergo an MRI on Thursday, and we should know the results soon thereafter. It remains uncertain how much time deGrom will miss, but it certainly sounds as if it will require at least some time on the disabled list. It's terrible news for both Mets fans and deGrom owners alike.--John Smith
