Hurricanes Lock Up Sebastian Aho With Eight-Year Extension
1 year agoCarolina Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho has signed an eight-year extension, general manager Don Waddell announced Wednesday. The Finnish star forward, who celebrated his 26th birthday on Wednesday, will be paid $78 million over the course of the deal, giving him a $9.75 million cap hit. "Sebastian has developed into one of the best two-way centers in hockey," Waddell said in a statement. "He's a tremendous leader on and off the ice who sets a great example for our younger players. We're grateful that he's decided to stay in Carolina for the foreseeable future." Aho, whose new deal will start in 2024-25, has spent his entire seven-year NHL career with the Hurricanes, collecting 468 points across 520 regular-season appearances with 218 goals and 250 assists. He had his fourth 30-goal campaign in five years last season, notching 67 points in 75 games overall.
