Howie Kendrick Begins Home Run Barrage
6 years agoWashington Nationals infielder Howie Kendrick was the first of four consecutive Nationals to hit a home run in the eighth inning of Sunday's 5-2 win over the San Diego Padres. Kendrick's pinch hit solo home run off Craig Stammen gave Washington a 2-1 lead. It was his 11th, and followed immediately by solo shots from Trea Turner (fourth), Adam Eaton (sixth), and Anthony Rendon (12th), all off of Stammen as well. Kendrick is not nearly an everyday player -- of the team's 64 games, he's appeared in 54 and started 32 -- but he has had value, and should continue to do so in deeper daily leagues, with his .329/.366/.600 line.
