Harry Ford 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Promising Backstop Should Get His First Real Opportunity in 2026
Harry Ford recorded eight plate appearances with the Mariners in 2025, which obviously isn't enough to determine anything. The now 22-year-old hit .283/.408/.460 with 16 homers and seven steals in 458 PAs at Triple-A, however, hinting at his fantasy upside. Ford lacks huge power, but his outstanding plate discipline (16.2 BB%, 19.2 K%) and advanced approach (16.5 percent chase rate, 8.6 SwStr%) should give him a high floor when he gets his first real opportunity. Ford is also unique in that he offers speed from the catcher position. Last season's 64 percent success rate (7-for-11) was disappointing, but he stole 35 bags in 44 attempts (80% success rate) as recently as 2024. Washington likes to run, so Ford should have a green light as soon as he debuts. Ford's opportunity should come quickly, as incumbent Keibert Ruiz struggled offensively (.247/.277/.318 with seven homers in 267 PAs) and defensively (-9 catching framing runs) last season. Furthermore, backup Riley Adams struggled mightily (.186/.252/.308 with eight homers in 286 PAs). Ford should hit better than either while playing MLB-quality defense, making him an exciting upside play at his 562.26 ADP.
