The Los Angeles Angels selected Louisville pitcher Reid Detmers with the 10th overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft on Wednesday. The Braves took Detmers in the 32nd round out of high school, but he vaulted himself up the board with three great years in college. The left-handed starter is one of the most polished pitchers in this year's draft class and could rise up the Angels minor league system rather quickly. Detmers set school records in wins (13) and strikeouts (167) in his sophomore season in 2019. His fastball sits in the low-90s and he has excellent command of it. The 20-year-old also has a curveball and changeup in his arsenal. Mound presence and his ability to locate his pitches consistently should help him to become a mid-rotation starter for the Angels.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
