Framber Valdez Dealing With Serious Finger Injury
4 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez (finger) suffered a serious finger injury on Tuesday that is expected to keep him out for an extended period of time. The left-hander took a line drive off his hand during spring training action on Tuesday and could be forced to miss the beginning of the 2021 regular season. It's a tough blow for the Astros, as Valdez is one of their top young starters. He won five games in 2020 with 76 strikeouts and a 3.57 ERA in 70 2/3 innings with a nasty sinker-curveball combination. Valdez was rising up draft boards because of his 60 percent ground-ball rate and 5.6 percent walk rate last year, but this injury will unfortunately cause his ADP to drop considerably as we approach the start of the season.
