Fernando Tatis Jr. To Make Spring Debut Tuesday
2 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop/outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. will serve as the designated hitter in his Cactus League debut on Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants, according to manager Bob Melvin. Tatis didn't play at all in 2022 due to a fractured wrist and an 80-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. He also had another surgery on his left shoulder last year, but the 24-year-old phenom is fully healthy now and getting ramped up for the 2023 campaign. He will sit out the first 20 games of the season, but after that he's expected to return to a full-time role in right field. Despite the fact that he'll miss the first couple weeks of the season to finish off his suspension, Tatis has one of the highest ceilings in fantasy if he can play a full season.
