Fernando Tatis Jr. 2022 Player Outlook: The No. 1 Hitter in Fantasy Sidelined
3 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop/outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. was fantastic between injuries in 2021, smashing 42 homers and stealing 25 bases in his scattered 546 plate appearances. That along with the .282/.364/.611 triple-slash line made him by far the best per-game contributor in the league. The problem now is that Tatis will miss at least a third of the 2022 season after it was revealed that he required surgery to repair a broken wrist. It would seem that it's a pretty good bet to miss half the season as well, and that leads to all kinds of other worries about him playing at all in 2022 if things don't go smoothly in recovery. While he's still a complete stud to roster in dynasty or keeper leagues, it would not seem wise to use any kind of real draft capital on him for 2022, no matter how good you'll think he'll be when on the field.
