DJ LeMahieu Engaging With Other Teams
4 years agoFree-agent second baseman DJ LeMahieu, a two-time batting champion and the New York Yankees best player the last two years, has become dismayed by the slow-play tactics of the Yankees, according to a source close to his family. LeMahieu expects a deal at least on par with J.D. Martinez's five years and $110 million, and the Yankees have not met those terms. The 32-year-old has therefore asked his representatives to re-engage with other teams that have shown interest, among them the Dodgers, Blue Jays and Mets. They're also reaching out to teams like the Braves, Cardinals, Red Sox and others. LeMahieu expects to meet virtually with several teams with holes to fill at the keystone this week, according to a source. Wherever he lands, LeMahieu should be the top second baseman off the board in fantasy drafts after finishing in the top four of MVP balloting the last two seasons.
