Derek Hill Placed On 10-Day Injured List On Thursday
4 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Derek Hill (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a right shoulder sprain, according to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. Hill suffered the injury in the first inning of Wednesday's game when he crashed into the outfield wall, and he was promptly removed from the game. Manager AJ Hinch called the injury a Grade 1 sprain, adding, "He was moving around pretty well today, surprisingly well. Given that it was going to be at least a week, we needed to make a move and let it calm down a little bit. Good news is it's nothing too extreme but enough to put him on the IL." This is good news for the rookie, who is slashing .250/.357/.250 with three steals, one RBI and two runs scored over seven games this season. To replace him, the Tigers have recalled outfielder Daz Cameron from Triple-A Toledo.
